Smoovie! Smoovie! Smoovie!

We went strawberry picking one day on a whim. We didn't know what we were doing, when to go or what to do with the berries. But we did know that they make great smoothies (or smoovies if you are Quinn) this winter.

I ate more berries than I picked. I think I must have a bad mom or something because I heard another mommy say to her kid, "no, no, no don't eat that. It hasn't been washed yet." My mom was feeding me unwashed berries. I wonder if I should be worried. Either that other lady is crazy or my mom is out to get me.

Altogether, not counting what we ate, we (mom) picked 20 pound of berries for $29. Which means that we can have smoothies all winter long and we saved about $140 of what we would have spent buying frozen berries from the store.

A work in progress...part one.

Dear Jesus,

Please help me figure out how to let my pees out. I can sit here all day and nothing comes out.

Amen.

PS....do you like my beard? I heard that you might have had one....but you probably didn't have a mohawk, huh?

Funny sayings

Here are a few silly things that Quinn has said recently.

One night Dad was reading at bedtime. He noticed that Quinn was munching on something.

  • Dad: Quinn, is that a booger in your mouth?

  • Quinn: No, it's just a fingernail.

Again at bedtime....Quinn was hiding in his closet, planning to scare Daddy when he came up to tuck him in. After thouroughly scaring his dad, he crawled out of the closet and over to the big boy bed, pretending to be a cat.

  • Dad: What's the cat's name?

  • Quinn: D......O......G.........

We have on rare occasion bribed Quinn to eat vegetables. The other night Quinn bribed himself.

  • When I finished all this, I'm going to have a cookie! (too bad he didn't hold up his end of the bargan...darn carrots.)

Move over Martha

Move over Martha! There's a new guy in town. I LOVE to bake....or rather eat baked goods. Today's task was banana bread. Mom's scoops and I dump (in more than one way although generally not at the same time). We are the perfect partnership in the kitchen. Our third and often silent partner usually arrives about the time we are pulling out of the oven to sample our goods.

Happy Memorial Day

Once again, Mom, Dad, and Grandma brought me to the Memorial Day Parade. I loved seeing all the bands, also known as the instrument guys, floats, fire trucks and military vehicles. Basically, if it's huge and on wheels....I'm there.

Mom and Dad are determined to teach me to value what others have paid a price to provide for me. Everytime a flag came past, we stood. Every time a serviceman walked by, we waved and clapped. Following the parade, we walked to the cemetery for a special ceremony.

Mom and Dad want me to know that Memorial Day is more than just a day off of school for hot dogs and brats and working in the yard. So we will have our tradition in participating in the Memorial Day activites....and then have brats.

Before successfully eating my first brat (and loving it), I had to get a little exercise.

I decided to cool off and start a massive water fight with uncle Jim.
